Weekend Camping Adventure

This past weekend, Cody decided to take the boys on a little camping adventure.  He had been wanting to take them for a long time, but the timing was never right.  His last meetings of the day got canceled, so they left within a half hour.  To say the boys were excited would be a complete understatement.  I was worried that someone would kill them in the tent at night, but Cody assured me everything would be okay.  I have only spent 4 nights away from my children, and 3 of them were when I was in the hospital having a baby.  They drove about an hour and 15 minutes away to Lake Conroe.  I didn't go because we have a three man tent.  Camping with a 7 month old is not my idea of fun.  Actually, camping really isn't my idea of fun.  I like being outdoors, I just really don't like sleeping in tents all that much.  I packed extra clothes, underwear, socks and pajamas for the boys because you never know what is going to happen.  Well, they walked in Saturday afternoon covered in black soot and wearing the same clothes they were wearing when they left.  The bag I packed went untouched, except for their tooth brushes.  I think they had more fun without me.  Vivian and I stayed at home and went to Costco. She was fussy from getting her last tooth.  It finally came all the way through on Saturday night.  Phew.
The camp site.
 Collecting fire wood.
Trying to find a crocodile.  Cody later found out that there are crocodiles in the lake.  Lovely.  They won't be going back there any time soon.

Roasting marshmallows.  More like burning marshmallows.
Hiking in the dark with their head lamps.  They love those things.  Best stocking stuffer Cody ever bought.

Check out the black marshmallow in Carter's hand.
 Telling stories in the tent.
Burning sticks in the morning.  Little boys love fire.
Breakfast.  Blueberry pancakes, turkey bacon and bananas.  They had fun with their Dad.  Cody is the best.

That is an impressive breakfast and those "head-lights" are going on my shopping list!
Camping is always such a gross/dirty adventure but seems to be every boys favorite. They will never forget this. They day they could stay in their dirty clothes! So much fun.

That sounds like every little boy's dream....camping, fires, smores, and daddy time....love it!

That camp-spot is beautiful (minus the crocodiles!)
