We tried getting our Christmas tree at Costco the other night, but they were sold out. Yesterday was the only day we had to get it since we are busy throughout the weekend with company. I decided to load all three kids up and head out to do it myself. Cody didn't find out I was getting it until he called me and I was already at Costco. He was nervous that I couldn't strap the tree correctly on the car. Actually, he doubted my abilities (sorry honey). He wanted to come from work and help me. What a nice husband, I thought, but I'm a big girl and can handle this thing on my own. The guy at Costco had to break the rules for me and load the tree on top of the car because there is no way I could have loaded that 8 footer on my own. In fact, I was already prepared for him not being able to help me, so I tried picking it up in front of him and couldn't even lift the thing 1/2" off the ground. He smiled and picked it right up. After it was on top of the car, he asked if I needed any twine to tie it down with. He said he could give me the twine, but couldn't tie any knots because of liability. I smiled and busted out my tools from the car. I brought with me a tool bag full of bungee cords and other goods. He laughed when he saw all the stuff in the bag. I got to work and strapped the tree down really good. It didn't help that it was the coldest day in Houston yesterday and my boys were screaming in the car to get out and help. I succeeded and got the job done...now it just had to stay on top of the car until I got home. I had to make one more stop, though. I headed to Lowe's to get a tree stand. When I walked into their tree area and saw the prices, I was glad that I had gotten mine at Costco...sheesh I can't believe how much they want for trees. Anyway, the tree made it home without any problems and we will spend the evening decorating it once my husband has time to bring it in the house and secure it in the stand. One thing is for sure, our garage has never smelled better.
